Will Black Summer Season 3 Be Happing on Netflix?

Black Summer Season 3: Fans have been waiting for news on the post-apocalyptic thriller starring actress Jaime King as Rose, one of the show’s key protagonists, since June 2021. We’re now in March 2022, and Netflix has yet to say if Black Summer season 3 will be renewed or cancelled, leading some fans to believe the series has been cancelled.

Jaime King has been cast in a new film called Man’s Son, according to Deadline. She’ll play opposite Frank Grillo in the film. People are questioning if this means Netflix discreetly cancelled Black Summer because the show’s star is now appearing in other projects.

Man’s Son, on the other hand, is a film, so it’s not that alarming. Between the seasons of their television shows, several performers will work on cinematic projects. It would be a little more concerning if King was cast as the star in a new series.

Black Summer Season 3

Jamie King, Justin Chu Cary, Christine Lee, Kelsey Flower, Zoe Marlett, Bobby Naderi, and others star in the action apocalyptic drama series Black Summer. The first season, created by Karl Schaefer and John Hyams, premiered on Netflix in April 2019 with eight episodes.

The second instalment took almost two years to complete, and it was recently released on June 17, 2021, on the streaming platform. Fans are already wondering when the third season of Black Summer will be released.

Sun was the lone person that boarded the jet at the end of the Black Summer season. The Korean-speaking pilot appears to be a pleasant individual. But there’s a big secret about where they’re going. It’s possible that it’ll be disclosed in the upcoming season.

If the series is revived, though, the focus may shift to Rose and Anna. They never made it to the plane, and no one knows if they are alive or dead. Both plots of the Z Nation prequel show have piqued the interest of fans.

Rose (Jaime King) and her companions, like in Season 1, are attempting to reach a location that promises to bring safety. Instead of trying to get to a sports stadium through an overcrowded city, they’re looking for a rural airport where they can establish touch with a plane that has been dropping supplies in the area on a regular basis. They aren’t alone, either.

Black Summer Season 3

After a violent run-in with a well-armed militia group early in the season, Rose and her daughter Anna (Zoe Marlett) become separated from their allies Sun (Christine Lee) and Spears (Justin Chu Cary). Sun is seized as a prisoner, while Spears is shot and left for dead.

As the militia, commanded by a guy named Ray (Bobby Naderi), battles other factions in the area, their storylines converge irregularly over the season. As they search for a secure location to rest in the wintery woods, Rose and Anna must strike out on their own and try to escape getting caught in the crossfire.

However, it isn’t until the very end of the season that our original group reunites. Unfortunately, this isn’t going to be a happy reunion.

Black Summer Season 3 Renewal or Cancelled

Black Summer Season 3

We can’t deny that Netflix’s quiet for more than six months is a poor indication for any show’s future. Black Summer has never achieved the same level of success as other zombie programs like The Walking Dead or the more current All of Us Are Dead. It’s getting harder to believe in the show’s long-term viability on the streaming service.

However, due to the epidemic, there was a two-year gap between the first and second Black Summer seasons. Is it possible that this will happen again? Will Netflix simply put the show on hold for a while before resuming it?

Another option is that the program will be revived, but Jaime King will not be a part of it, at least not in the same capacity as she was in the previous two seasons.

What makes you think this is a possibility? Because in the Black Summer season 2 finale, her character’s fate is primarily left up in the air. It would also explain why she is seeking other projects if her character is killed off. Rose was not only injured but she and a few others were also left behind at the airport. So there’s no way of knowing what will happen to her.

Despite this, King expressed his admiration for the show in an interview with Express published a few months after the season 2 debut. “I’m happy to get the writer’s room going again,” she added, adding that Black Summer “is the kind of series that might go on forever, but I think it would be extremely impactful to do it in just three seasons, if possible.”

So it’s not all horrible! King appears to still have a stake in the program, so the movie casting announcement shouldn’t cause too much concern. For the time being of renewal, all we can do is rewatch the show and wait for Netflix to make a final decision.

Conclusion

Rose’s major objective in Season 1 was to find her daughter Anna, and their tearful reunion was a cathartic end to the show’s first season. That dynamic has shifted in Season 2. The relentless action slows a bit in the season’s penultimate episode, “The Lodge,” and we learn more about the mother and daughter.

Rose explains to Spears at one point, “I have no choice but to keep an eye out for her. It’s absolutely clear: my life has only one purpose. It’s her, too.” Anna, on the other hand, is not a bystander in this drama.

Netflix has not renewed Black Summer season 3 as of today. It shouldn’t come as an amazement, though, because the second half was only released a few days ago. The series’ continuation is contingent on the success of the eighth and final installment, which consists of eight episodes.

Even if Black Summer gets a third installment, it won’t be released until mid-2022 or 2023. This is understandable considering the two-year gap between the first and second seasons.
