Birds of Prey 2: Release Date: Renewed or Cancelled? Check Here!
Updated As On 26 January 2022
With Birds of Prey now in the past, DCEU fans are wondering if a sequel will ever be made. Birds of Prey, which cost approximately $100 million to make, received mostly good reviews from critics but underperformed at the box office, grossing just over $201.9 million worldwide. Birds of Prey, directed by Cathy Yan and written by Christina Hodson, stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn for the first time since Suicide Squad in 2016.
Harley Quinn was abruptly liberated from her connection with The Joker in Birds of Prey, and she later attracted the attention of bad boy Roman Sionis (Ewan McGregor). When the Gotham City criminal Black Mask ordered a kill on Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco), Harley Quinn and the rest of the gang sought vengeance with the help of Detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez). Mary Elizabeth Winstead portrayed Helena Bertinelli aka Huntress, Jurnee Smollett portrayed Dinah Laurel Lance aka Black Canary, and Chris Messina portrayed Black Mask’s cruel henchman Victor Zsasz in Birds of Prey.
The last episode of Birds of Prey explained how the titular characters chose to form an official force. And the two main villains didn’t fare well in the film, though one managed to outlast the other before being dealt with by Harley and her allies. Unfortunately, in the year after the premiere of Birds of Prey, DC has failed to confirm that a sequel will be made, and actor Robbie has also dismissed the notion.
Birds of Prey 2 Release Date
Since Birds of Prey 2 has yet to be greenlit as of summer 2021, it’s difficult to picture it arriving anytime soon, especially since the DCEU’s schedule for the next several years is already quite packed.
However, if the Black Canary spinoff does well on HBO Max, Warner Bros. may reconsider creating Birds of Prey 2 sooner rather than later. DigitalSpy Has Announced That the Season is not coming for Another Season. The Series Has been Cancelled As of Now.
Who Is in the Cast of Birds of Prey 2
Margot Robbie is a huge fan of Harley Quinn and worked as a producer on Birds of Prey, so she’ll almost certainly return. The remainder of the ensemble, including Jurnee Smollet-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosie Perez, and Ella Jay Basco, is all expected to return. Roman Sionis, played by Ewan McGregor, was blown dead at the end of the movie, so he’s unlikely to return, though there’s no shortage of villains in Gotham City to take his place.
Cathy Yan has indicated interest in having Poison Ivy appear in the sequel. As a result, it’s possible that the film may focus on her connection with Harley Quinn as well as the interesting dynamics between her and the rest of the Birds of Prey.
Is There a Trailer Available for Birds of Prey 2?
There isn’t a trailer yet. The first trailer for Birds of Prey was released in October 2019, and the film premiered in February 2020. Expect a similar delay between the publication of the Birds of Prey 2 trailer and the actual release of the film.
But You Can Watch the Updates here:
Birds of Prey 2 Plot
In the last episode of Birds of Prey, Harley Quinn and her team defeat Black Mask and Victor Zsasz. Cassandra Cain, in particular, plays a key role, culminating in the establishment of the Birds of Prey group, which includes Huntress, Black Canary, and Montoya.
Harley Quinn, on the other hand, joins forces with Cassandra for a different adventure. The core actors from the first film might return for a sequel, but it’ll most likely focus on the newly established three-woman group without Harley and Cassandra.
Margot Robbie Exposes the Facts on Birds of Prey 2
The eponymous female superhero team made their big-screen debut in Birds of Prey. While the picture garnered positive reviews and was largely well-liked by fans, it received a tepid response at the box office. The Suicide Squad, directed by James Gunn and starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, is a soft-reboot/sequel of the first film, but we may have to wait a while for Birds of Prey 2.
2 years ago today, @DojaCat released “Boss Bitch” from the ‘Birds of Prey’ soundtrack.
The track, which was met with praise from music critics, became a top 40 hit in numerous countries. It’s certified Platinum by the @RIAA and has over 560 million Spotify streams. pic.twitter.com/IFWnjIu8zx

Fans of Birds of Prey will be disappointed, and it would be a great tragedy if we didn’t get any more instalments, given how unique and chaotically enjoyable the picture is. Then there’s Gunn’s tease that anybody may die in The Suicide Squad, so let’s hope this isn’t a clue that Harley isn’t going to make it out alive.
Birds of Prey Characters Appears in Other Movies?
While a sequel to Birds of Prey is still in the works, its characters will continue to exist in the DC Extended Universe. The Suicide Squad, starring Margot Robbie and Harley Quinn, was released in August 2021. Robbie also said that her and writer/director James Gunn were working on another Harley project, which might indicate that he will be involved in any Birds of Prey sequel.
However, one bird will get her own film out of it all. It was rumoured in August 2021 that a Black Canary spinoff film was in the works. Jurnee Smollett will reprise her role, while Misha Green will pen the script. HBO Max is likely to distribute the film.
Will the Joker be in Birds of Prey 2?
Is the Joker absent from this film? No! In “Birds of Prey,” only Leto’s Joker is mentioned by name. Warner Bros is a studio that produces films. There’s a minor nod to “Suicide Squad,” with footage from the 2016 picture showing Harleen Quinzel’s metamorphosis back into Harley Quinn.

Will Birds of Prey Connected with Harley Quinn Animated Series?
Although the two are quite different animals, there were some parallels between Birds of Prey and Harley Quinn, including a break-up with the Joker, working with a ragtag band to hunt down Gotham baddies, and being R-rated. Not to mention that Poison Ivy is one of the main characters in the DC Universe animation, and her friendship with Harley is the series’ anchor.
With that in mind, it’s probable that the Birds of Prey sequel will be inspired by their connection, which is crucial to Harley’s growth and development, including her newfound capacity to accept love and aid from others in place of the abuse she endured while with the Joker. Whether or whether the sequel takes inspiration from Harley Quinn, it will surely find a way to make the most of its tale.
At the very least, while you wait for a DCEU sequel, you should check out Harley Quinn.
