The Martian
This brilliant movie starring Matt Damon is all about a trip to Mars gone wrong. The main character “Mark Watney” is stranded on Mars after his crew leaves without him after mistakenly assuming that he was killed in a storm. Soon after the disaster, Nasa shortly begins to find evidence to suggest that Mark is still alive. Mark struggles to stay alive on the planet alone due to the minimal amount of supplies he has but begins to come up with clever ways to get by. By definition, Mark Watney colonises Mars and tries his best to contact his crew to make them aware of his existence. Nasa and the crew form a plan to save Mark from the big red planet. With the entire world watching, the stakes are as high as can be. The Martian is a fantastic, emotional story which will have you glued to the screen. A lot of what we liked about this movie was the soundtrack with songs such as “I will survive” by Gloria Gaynor and “Starman” by David Bowie. The Martian is without a doubt one of the best movies for a night in, why not give it a watch?
The Dictator
Now this one is a little more light-hearted, The Dictator is a fantastic movie that never fails to make you laugh no matter how many times you watch it! It may not be suitable for all audiences, but if you don’t mind some rude jokes then this is definitely a must-watch. If you are a fan of Sacha Baron Cohen, then you might have already seen the dictator. The story follows a fictional dictator named “Aladeen” who has his identity stolen while on visit to America. He struggles to fit in due to how he’s lived such a lavish life. He makes friends with Americans who are completely unaware of his true identity, despite how they are completely against him and his brutal dictator regime. This movie is absolutely jam-packed with moments that will have you falling out of your chair and is without a doubt one of the best movies for a night in.
Free Guy
If you are familiar with video games and you are searching for some of the best movies for a night in, then “Free guy” might be a perfect watch for you! The main character is a man named “guy” who lives in a video game. Guy is an NPC; he lives the same day over and over but one day decides he is bored of being pushed around by players and wants to explore and figure out what his real purpose is. One day Guy decides to stand up against a player and takes his sunglasses from him, upon putting on these sunglasses he gains a HUD and can navigate the game just like a player! Now if you don’t play video games it might take you a short while to wrap your head around the concept, but Ryan Reynolds is hilarious as always and the movie makes a great watch regardless. The movie also has a lot of cool references to video games and movies that you’ll catch onto throughout. Free guy is a fairly new movie so if you’ve not seen it then it’s definitely worth your time!
Ghostbusters – Afterlife
If you’re a fan of the original ghostbusters movies then watching this is a no brainer, Ghostbusters- Afterlife does a great job in rebooting the franchise and paying homage to the old movies without running the legacy of the old movies. The movie was pretty highly rated by fans and is a fun light-hearted comedy to have on. The movie follows the grandchildren of the original ghostbusters characters and brings back some iconic villains that we have not seen for years. Ghostbusters after life is a fantastic throwback movie with brilliant effects and CGI which makes for a really entertaining watch. If you’ve not seen the classic ghostbusters movies, we would probably recommend that you check them out first!
