‘Barbarians' is one of the most fascinating historical retellings that have appeared on television in recent memory.
The German historical drama created by Jan Martin Scharf and Arne Nolting for Netflix was one of the most popular programmes on the streaming giant in 2020, according to Nielsen ratings.
It tells the story of the horrific Battle of the Teutoburg Forest, which took place in A.D. 9 when Germanic soldiers stood in the way of the Roman Empire's northward expansion.
Let's see what the future holds for the series after making it into the Top 10 in multiple nations around the world.
“Barbarians” Season 2 Plot Synopsis: What Is It All About, and What Can We Expect From Season 2?
The second season will have a plethora of opportunities to explore new territory. As a result of their efforts, Arminius and Thusnelda were able to unify the Germanic tribes under a single banner and defeat the three Roman Legions. The Roman Empire suffered a terrible defeat as a result of the successful ambush.
Arminius and Thusnelda will most likely be crowned King and Queen of the tribes as a result of their victory.
The night, on the other hand, is not far away on the horizon.
Thusnelda's father is collaborating with Hadgan on a major strike. The two want to strike when Arminius is least expecting it, in order to seize control of the situation for themselves.
Aside from the threat to their family, Arminius and Thusnelda are facing a much more serious danger than they had anticipated.
Despite the fact that the two of them had won the battle, the conflict with Rome is far from ended.
While Arminius and the Germanic tribes are pushing the rest of the Roman army east of the Rhine, the Emperor of Rome, Tiberius, is putting together a new army to counter their advance east.
Arminius will have to contend with an increasing number of legions of Romans, led by Germanicus.
Meanwhile, Folkwin Wolfspeer's negative experiences may lead to a painful betrayal on the part of his friends.
As a result of nearly becoming a slave for the Romans and nearly losing Thusnelda to Arminius, Folkwin has separated himself from Thusnelda and Arminius.
Thusnelda and Arminius were successful in part because of the efforts of Folkwin. Thusnelda was a goddess, and he was the one who spread the falsehood that she was connected to them, and he is the reason that Arminius is still alive.
Folkwin is now suffering since his former girlfriend is ready to marry his old best friend, with the result that they could become Queen and King.
If Arminius is crowned king, Folkwin may have been offered the position of prince, but Folkwin considers the offer an insult.
He intends to assassinate Arminius if he succeeds to the position of Germanic King.
Barbarians' Season 2 Cast and Crew
Barbarians stars Jeanne Goursaud, Laurence Rupp, and David Schütter will all return for the show's second season, reprising their roles as Thusnelda, Arminius, and Folkwin, among others.
Daniel Donskoy will play Flavus, Murathan Muslu will play Marbod, Cynthia Micas will play Dido, Katherine Heyer will play Odarike, Giovanni Carta will play Tiberius, and Alessandro Fella will play Germanicus are among the newcomers to the cast.
With the second season, showrunner Stefan Ruzowitzky expressed excitement about being a part of the series' continuation. “I am looking forward to working with the complete team in front of and behind the camera,” Ruzowitzky said of the collaboration with the cast and crew.
It was our pleasure to obtain more outstanding performers and actresses whose characters contribute to increasing the narrative density of Barbarians even further.

What Can We Expect from the Second Season of Barbarians?
The second season of Barbarians will be based on historical events, as was the first season. Although the show's makers have not revealed what will happen to Arminius, Thusnelda, and Folkwin in the future, history predicts that they will be involved in another horrific battle.
In 16 AD, Roman General Germanicus attempted to revenge the fallen legions by returning to the battlefield with even more troops for a new campaign of conquest and conquest. The Battle of Idistaviso, in contrast to the Battle of Teutoburg Forest, was a major success for the Romans, and if the show keeps true to reality, this second series could spell doom for our heroes if they don't learn their lesson.
The fact that Daniel Donskoy will be portraying Arminius' younger brother Flavus as an adult indicates that we can expect a dramatic family reunion to take place in the future.
Similarly to his older brother, Flavus was abducted by the Romans while he was a child. He remained loyal to his Roman captors, however, and even served in the Roman army under the command of Germanicus throughout his imprisonment.
We also expect Folkwin's oath with the gods, together with the finding that Thusnelda is pregnant with Folkwin's child, to cause difficulties for our three main protagonists, particularly since she intends to govern with Arminius!
