Bar Smith’s Bail Request Backfires; Prosecutor Seeks to Raise It Due to Past Criminal Behavior

Bar Smith’s latest attempt to be released from custody and/or get his $35,000 bond reduced has backfired.

The father of Teen Mom, who has been behind bars since July, intended to work with his public attorney to persuade the judge to lower his $35,000 bond or release him from custody on his own recognizance.

As per The Shahab, after learning about Bar’s criminal history and his shenanigans in California and Nevada, the prosecutor not only disagreed with Bar and his public defender’s claims that he is neither a flight risk or a danger to society, but also actively pursued raising Bar’s bond to $150,000!

One day before Bar’s case was scheduled to be heard in court, Starcasm reported that the prosecution filed an opposition to his motion to be released or have his bond reduced. The Ashley earlier stated that on July 7, after an altercation with Ashley, Ashley Jones’ estranged husband was taken into custody.

Bar has been imprisoned in Nevada ever since, having been charged with kidnapping, coercion, and burglary.

The Ashley said that on August 8, Bar’s public attorney submitted a motion asking for either a reduction in the $35,000 bail sum or Bar’s release on his own recognizance. Bar’s lawyer reportedly told Starcasm that his client “is unable to afford the current bail,” and as a result, “the current bail setting is acting as a detention order.”

Bar’s lawyer argued in the application that Bar solely posed a threat to Ashley and was not “a danger to the community” or a flight risk.

Bar’s application was set for hearing on August 22, but according to Starcasm, the day before, the prosecution filed a motion opposing it, requesting that Bar’s bail be increased to $150,000 with High Electronic Monitoring and a No Contact Order with Ashley.

The proposed bond increase was justified by the prosecution by pointing to Bar’s criminal past and the July incident involving Ashley, in which Bar allegedly flew from California to Nevada to confront Ashley about her social media activities.

The prosecutor’s petition said, “Defendant’s violent nature, criminal history, and willingness to fly from California to Nevada from one social media post is extremely alarming and proof that he is likely to jeopardize the safety of the community, Ashley, and her family.”

“Defendant claims that because there was no reported physical altercation or injury of any kind, there is no risk in this case. Ashley had her mother on standby to contact the police because, according to new testimony given at the preliminary hearing, she was afraid for her life.

Additionally, the prosecution stated in the motion that Ashley, who is Bar’s daughter Holly’s mother, was able to act composedly and take care “not to agitate [Bar] more in an attempt to avoid any physical escalation” because she “knew help was on the way.”

Ashley’s parents also gave testimony to the prosecutor, claiming that Bar had previously gotten physical with Ashley, their family, and other people.

The prosecutors claimed that Ashley’s parents “indicate in their voluntary statements the violent behavior that Defendant has exhibited towards the entire family for quite some time.”

Tea said that Bar was detained after he allegedly “shot up my daughter’s home as we were celebrating her medical [assistant graduation] party.” (Teen Mom 2 addressed this incident in an episode.)

Bar reportedly “had a gun holding her hostage,” according to Ashley’s mother, who mentioned needing to go collect Ashley from her home. She further stated that Bar had harassed her family in a number of locations.

Tea wrote, “The last seven years have been a nightmare,” Starcasm said. “Bariki has shown up to my church services to fight with my children. I am a retired pastor. He’s fought my husband, my oldest daughter, and my deceased son.

He instills terror in the family by threatening them and using violence, which WE KNOW HE WILL DO! We have personally witnessed him pulling firearms on individuals.

“We are scared that he might suddenly show up and start beating on my daughter again, so at this point we are looking over our shoulder,” Tea continued.

Ted Chapple, Ashley’s father, also had a lot to say about Bar and his previous actions.

“The family as a whole is done with him because of the damage he has caused to property. Ted stated, “Bar has used guns in the past to get his way. The only reason our daughter deals with him [is] because they have a six-year-old daughter together.”

He continued, “So, we’re tired of dealing with his antics after a long time of it.” “Enough people have been harmed by him for his own benefit. We just don’t and won’t put up with him and his stupidity.

Bar and his counsel have withdrawn their request to have Bar released and/or have the bail lowered due to the prosecution’s compelling case against Bar and the prosecutor’s attempt to actually raise Bar’s bail.

Bar is still being held at the Clark County Jail as of right now. October 21 is Bar’s trial date; a status check hearing has been scheduled for September 24.
