Everything You Need to Know About Banana Fish Season 2.

Based on the manga series, Banana Fish is a Japanese crime-thriller anime television series. On April 13, 1985, Akimi Yashida’s manga series, written and illustrated by her, was first released. It was on the air till March 12, 1994. MAPPA, a Japanese anime company, announced plans to adapt the manga series into an anime TV series two decades later. On July 6, 2018, the first season of the show was released to the public.

It was a big hit with old and new fans alike. Since then, fans have been waiting for word on a second season. So far, here’s what we know.

When Will the Second Season of the Banana Fish Premiere?

Season 1 of Banana Fish aired from July 6th to December 21st, 2018, and consisted of 24 episodes. MAPPA has failed to announce a second season, despite Season 1’s success.

Is there going to be another season? We believe it is highly unlikely. First and foremost, Season 1 adapts all six sections of the manga series. It concludes on a note that says there is a slim probability of a second season. There are five related side stories to the manga. Private Opinion and Garden of Light are two stories that could be adapted into a second season.

There isn’t enough substance in these side stories to fill a second season. Instead of a new season, MAPPA may decide to make original video animation (OVA), or special episodes based on side storylines. It’s impossible to tell for sure because MAPPA has yet to make a formal announcement about the show’s future.

If the anime is revived, Banana Fish season 2 might be released in 2021, according to our best estimation. We’ll keep an ear out for any news about Banana Fish’s future, and we’ll update this section as soon as we hear anything.

Banana Fish Season 2 Plot:

Banana Fish is a gripping and tragic crime drama set in different cities across the United States.

Ash Lynx, a young man, is the protagonist of the novel. Griffin Callenreese, Ash’s older brother, was serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War while Ash was a child. He was struck with a peculiar craziness and opened fire on his squad. Griffin passed out after being subdued by the rest of the group. The words “bananafish” came out of his mouth.

Griffin, who was gravely disabled in the Vietnam incident, now lives with Ash, the leader of a street gang, in New York City. To maintain his criminal empire, “Papa” Dino Golzine (Corsican mob boss) reared Ash as a sex slave. When Ash encounters a dying man, his life is turned upside down. He hands him a vial with an unknown ingredient in it.

Ash also befriends Japanese photojournalists ShunichiIbe and Eiji Okumura, Chinatown gang leader Shorter Wong, and former criminal Max Lobo. Griffin is shot and dies after a scuffle with Golzine’s men. The strange “bananafish,” which appears to be at the center of a massive conspiracy, is next investigated by Ash.

The “banana fish’s” genuine nature is then investigated by Ash and his pals in California. Ash’s research into “bananafish” leads to a sequence of betrayals and chaos, causing the underworld of New York City to crumble.

Will There Be a Second Season of Banana Fish?

The most recent update was on December 6, 2020. Neither the studio MAPPA nor the producers have renewed the series for a second season as of this writing. The series is based on manga. It is currently unavailable for purchase.

The comic is set between 1980 and 2000, with elements such as smartphones and the Iraq War thrown in for good measure. Despite this, anime is primarily based on manga. The concern is whether there are enough scripts for a second season. No, that is not the case. The manga is divided into 19 volumes.

It was also hinted at the end of Season 1, implying that the anime would not get a second season. A new anime series might be produced out of five side stories. It’s possible that the side tales won’t be enough to justify a second season.

Instead of a new season, these side stories might be turned into special episodes. We won’t know for sure until MAPPA releases new episodes or a season. If MAPPA does not renew the anime, it will most likely air in 2021.

The Characters:

This is simply the first season of Banana Fish. It does, however, have a large cast of characters, some of whom are vital to the plot. The following are brief biographies of some of the show’s main characters.

LYNX ASH-

Ash, the show’s main character, was born Aslan Jade Callenreese and ran away from home when he was seven years old. “Papa” Dino Golzine, a Corsican mob lord, took him in and made him a sexslave. Ash rose through the ranks of Golzine’s crime organization to become an enforcer and, later, the successor to Golzine’s criminal empire.

Despite the fact that Ash had a lucrative criminal career ahead of him, he risked his life by investigating the “banana fish” discovered after Griffin’s death. Ash is an excellent marksman with a knife, and he excels at close-quarters fighting. Ash’s personality demonstrates a high level of intelligence, charisma, and tactical awareness.

EIJI OKAYUMURA-

Eiji, a 19-year-old Japanese college student, is the show’s second main character. Eiji, a former pole vaulter, and accomplished athlete were also about to begin a promising career when he was forced to quit early due to a major accident. Eiji was obliged to work as an assistant to Japanese photojournalist Shunichi Ibe.

In addition, when Eiji travels to New York City to report about street gangs, he accidentally becomes engaged in a fatal series of events. He also runs into Ash. In terms of personality, Eiji is described as being nice, polite, and occasionally naive. Eiji is also a source of concern for Ash. This is a flaw that Ash’s adversaries frequently exploit.

MAX LOBO-

Another major character in the show is Max. He served in the Vietnam War and is now a freelance journalist and former NYPD officer. Max was in the same unit as Griffin, and Ash blamed him for Griffin’s insanity. When Ash starts looking into “banana fish,” he finds Max is innocent. They develop a close friendship.

Dino, the boss of the Unione Corse crime gang, is a prominent mafia boss who wants to sell “bananafish” to the US government to boost his influence and authority. Dino also runs a child sex ring and is in charge of Ash’s upbringing and training as a Unione Corse enforcer and eventual heir.

Trailer for Banana Fish Season 2:

Everyone enjoys anime trailers. They thrill people and are well-liked by all. These short films are perfect for entertaining large groups and may also be used on their own. It’s not easy to make a video that entertains while also describing the idea.

Trailers must use the same storytelling elements as television and movies to engage viewers. Perhaps even more so, given that trailers are watched every second. In their trailer, the Banana Fish crew has demonstrated their incredible job.
