Even though the kid killed a lot of people and is now in prison, the ending suggests that Lowrey might be willing to help him get a lighter sentence in exchange for his help with a new case, which is likely to be the plot of the next movie.
What Will Happen in Bad Boys 4?

The page has since been changed to say “Plot unknown,” but that little summary must have come from somewhere, and since Bad Boys for Life co-writer Chris Bremner has already been hired to write the fourth instalment, it’s possible that the “highly specialised police unit” that gets in the way of Burnett and Lowrey might still be in the movie.
