At the Emmys, Mindy Kaling and B. J. Novak Allude to Their ‘ Complex Relationship ‘

Mindy Kaling and B. J. Novak didn’t hesitate to draw inspiration from their past relationships while presenting at the 2022 Emmys.

“Congratulations, you lazy sons of bitches, to all the nominees. How on earth do you get away with it? We produced 22 episodes annually. Your whole life would be consumed by it. There was no time left over for other projects or a social life.

When presenting the Outstanding Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie award on Monday, Sunday 12, Kaling, 43, made a joke about how you had no choice but to have difficult relationships with your costars.

The 43-year-old Novak continued, “Now you can just write some self-contained masterpiece, cast it with movie stars, shoot it for a couple of weeks, and then go back to your expensive luxury compound. In all honesty, it’s possible that you shot the entire thing at your opulent luxury compound.

The former co-stars, who were romantically involved while filming The Office from 2004 to 2007, have been open about their close friendship throughout the years.

The Vengeance director, for his part, talked on the difficulties in attempting to move on after working together on nine seasons of the popular NBC sitcom. He said of his connection with Kaling in 2013: “Whenever we date somebody else, I think there’s a phase where the individual is really dubious of our friendship.” I don’t mean to interfere, but it seems like you two might be a couple.

Are you certain that you are single? Are you certain you won’t wind up dating? The platonic best friend relationship can seem a little uncomfortable once you start dating, yet it’s so common.

He is not my lover, but he is not my closest friend, Kaling said in 2015, addressing her “strange as hell” relationship with Novak. We could probably be described as having “loud debates in a romantically charged camaraderie,” but I doubt Facebook would accept that as a new status.

The Mindy Project star, who is the mother of son Spencer, 2, and daughter Katherine, 5, previously talked about how she felt when others assumed Novak was their father. She told Marie Claire in August, “I don’t care. He is the godparent to both of my children, and they get along so well.

“So [the rumors] haven’t at all harmed my happiness, nor have they had any impact on my kids or BJ,” the Massachusetts native continued. I’ll accept it if it is what the public will find titillating.
