Apex, the futuristic action thriller starring Bruce Willis and Neal McDonough, has been picked up by RLJE Films for North American distribution. Edward Drake was in charge of the direction.
The story follows James Malone (Willis), an ex-cop who is serving a life sentence for a crime he did not commit. It was written by Drake and Corey Large. He is promised a shot at freedom provided he can survive a deadly game of Apex, in which six hunters pay to hunt another human on a secluded island. He accepts, and then all hell breaks loose as he arrives. Malone tries to turn the tables by setting traps and playing mind games in order to fight for his life and future.
In addition to Nels Lennarson, Francis Cronin, Lochlyn Munro, Megan Peta Hill, and Trevor Gretzky, the film stars Nels Lennarson, Francis Cronin, Lochlyn Munro, Megan Peta Hill, and Trevor Gretzky. Willis, Large’s The Exchange, and 308 Enterprises have teamed up again for Apex. Willis’ sci-fi action picture Cosmic Sin, which Large directed and scripted, was also produced by the latter two. Willis’ next film Reactor is being produced by Large. Bondit Media Capital is handling the funding in collaboration with Arcana Studios. Executive producers include Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor, Stephen Eads, and Johnny Messner. Willis stayed busy in 2020 with a Die Hard mini-reunion in a commercial alongside De’voreaux White’s Argyle and Clarence Gilyard Jr’s Theo for the DieHard battery business. He also had roles in Lionsgate’s Survive the Night, Vertical Entertainment’s Hard Kill, and Saban Films’ Breach.

Bruce Wills to star in Sci-fi Action Thriller Apex
According to The Hollywood Reporter exclusive news, The 65-year-old actor of Die Hard, as well as The Fifth Element, Pulp Fiction, Unbreakable, and Looper, has completed filming on Apex, directed by Edward Drake and written by Corey Large.
The science-fiction action-thriller, which was shot in Victoria, Canada, follows the story of five elite hunters who pay to hunt down a guy on a barren island. But when their target fights back with mind tricks, traps, and a drive to survive like they’ve never seen before, each of them begins to collapse.
Willis co-stars in the picture with Neal McDonough (Band of Brothers, Captain America: The First Avenger), Megan Peta-Hill (The X-Files, Broil), Nels Lennarson (Cold Pursuit, Horns), Trevor Gretzky (Lethal Weapon, Mile 22), and Alexia Fast (Jack Reacher, The Captive).
Following the sci-fi thriller Cosmic Sin, which Large directed, wrote, and produced, and Reactor, which was announced at this year’s virtual Cannes market, Apex, produced by Large for 308 Enterprises (It Follows, The November Man), marks the third collaboration between Willis, The Exchange, and 308 Enterprises.
