It was on March 11, 1993, when Anthony Davis was born to Anthony Sr. and Erainer in Chicago, Illinois. Antoinette, his identical twin, and Lesha, his elder sister, complete his immediate family. Davis attended Perspectives Charter School as a teen, where he was a member of the basketball team.

Davis's first game of the season was on October 26 against the Denver Nuggets. He scored 50 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, stole 7 balls (his career-high), gave out 5 assists, and blocked 4 shots. Davis had 29 points and 11 rebounds in a 107–90 win over the San Antonio Spurs on November 22, 2017. He finished the game with 7,938 career points, which put him ahead of Chris Paul into second place in franchise history (7,936).  He was then named the Player of the Week for the Western Conference for games played from November 20–26.

Davis helped the Pelicans beat the Houston Rockets 131–112 in their season opener on October 17. He scored 32 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, and gave out a career-high eight assists. He also blocked three shots and stole three balls. In a 107–98 win over the Chicago Bulls on November 7, he had 32 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocks.

Davis was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in July 2019 for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round draught picks, including the No. 4 overall pick in the 2019 NBA draught by the Lakers. Davis re-signed with the Lakers on December 3, 2020, for a five-year, $190 million deal that could be ended early before the fifth season, 2024–25.

During the 2020–21 season, he missed 30 games due to problems with his right calf and heel. This was the longest time he had to miss in his career. Davis left a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on December 17 after getting an MCL sprain in his left knee. The game was a 92–110 loss.
