Andy Samberg is an American comic, actor, musician, producer, and writer. He was born David A. J. Samberg on August 18, 1978. He is in the comedy music group The Lonely Island and was on Saturday Night Live from 2005 to 2012. He and the other members of The Lonely Island are credited with making the SNL Digital Shorts popular.

Early Life
Andy Samberg was born in Berkeley, California, on August 18, 1978, as David A. J. Samberg. He told his parents he wanted to be called Andy when he was five years old. He was raised as a Jew, but now he doesn’t believe in any religion. His mother, Marjorie, teaches first grade, and his father, Joe, takes pictures. There are two of them.
He went to elementary school with Chelsea Peretti, who later joined him on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” As a child, he watched “Saturday Night Live,” which turned him into a comedy fanatic. Samberg went to Willard Junior High School in Berkeley, where he met Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, who would later work with him on The Lonely Island.
After graduating from Berkeley High School in 1996, Samberg spent two years at the University of Santa Cruz before moving to New York City to study experimental film at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Career
Andy Samberg and his friends used the website TheLonelyIsland.com to share their work. Some of YouTube’s “digital shorts,” like “White Power,” “Regarding Andy,” and “Awesometown,” became very popular on the internet after the site was released.
During that time, he worked as an assistant on the TV show “Spin City.” In 2005, they were asked to try out for “Saturday Night Live.” After the audition, Andy Samberg was chosen as a featured player, and his two friends joined the show as writers.
At first, he did less live work and more pre-recorded sketches. Some of their digital shorts were shown on “Saturday Night Live.” The Lonely Island got the movie “Hot Rod” in 2007 because they were becoming more well-known.
