In fact, the director has said that after he finishes The Book of Boba Fett, he wants to start working on Alita 2.
At the same time, Avatar 2’s success could be good for the chances of an Alita sequel. If Cameron can do well at the box office again and keep building a good relationship with Disney, there’s a good chance they’ll let him make Alita 2 happen.

Who is Coming Back for Alita Battle Angel 2?
Well, Rosa Salazar would definitely come back as Alita, not just because she is the main character but also because she loves it so much. She said, “I would play Alita until my last breath.” “I would, and performance capture technology makes it likely that I could.”
Christoph Waltz, who plays Alita’s surrogate father Dr. Dyson Ido and is also a scientist and bounty hunter, has said he will be back for a sequel, so we can expect him to be there again.
In April 2020, he said, “I haven’t heard anything, and I’m a little disappointed and surprised that I haven’t heard anything yet, since I know it has followers.” In February 2023, he said again that he wanted to be in a ScreenRant follow-up.
After being set up at the end of the movie, Edward Norton should also play the mysterious Nova again. Rodriguez said that it was hard to find the right person to play Nova because his role is “really to set up a sequel.”
Norton was chosen for the small, non-speaking role because the producers wanted someone they would want to work with on a possible Alita: Battle Angel 2 sequel.
The original script had another character, Clive Lee, but he was taken out. The director said, “I thought we should keep him for a sequel,” so we could see them in the sequel, but it’s not clear who would play them.
What Will Happen in Alita Battle Angel 2?
Naturally, the first step in any story arc in Alita 2 would be for Alita to go to Zalem and fight Nova, the bad guy in charge. Nova is the main bad guy in the Alita universe. He sits on his throne and looks down at Iron City. Nova has puppets that do his bidding, but Alita wants to get her hands on Nova.
When we last saw the main cyborg hero, she was ready to fight Nova in Zalem, the magical city in the sky, with her sword raised high. The first Alita movie left off on such a big cliffhanger that it had to be made so that there would be a second one.
Alita is, of course, very angry. At the end of the first movie, Alita watched as the young man she loved, Hugo, was cut up by a sharp defence ring. Nova killed Hugo as he tried to get to the promised land of Zalem. This is, of course, after Alita was forced to take Hugo’s head and turn him into a cyborg, too.
We don’t know if Alita will just get revenge for Hugo’s death, or if she will also try to find his broken body. Since she has already fixed him once, it’s likely that she would want to do it again. With the help of her “adoptive parents,” Ido and Dr. Chiren, Hugo could be brought back to life as a robot/human hybrid.
Taking everything into account, it could be a long time before we can go back to Iron City. Alita 2 hasn’t even been confirmed yet, so we don’t even want to guess when it will come out. However, we do know that it will take at least three years to develop and make once it does. You should be able to keep yourself busy until 2026, right?
