Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Alison Pill, Mark Webber, Johnny Simmons, Ellen Wong, Kieran Culkin, Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, and Jason Schwartzman are in the cast. When it came out, Edgar Wright's movie based on Bryan Lee O'Malley‘s great comic didn't have many fans, but it has become a cult classic over the years.

The movie is about a young man named Scott Pilgrim, played by Cera, who falls in love with a delivery girl named Ramona Flowers (Winstead). He can only keep dating her if he beats her seven bad ex-boyfriends. Scott is used to making movies about video games, but the real story of the movie is about how two people have to get over their problems if they want to find new love.

Wright puts video game tropes and fun little nods all over the picture, but he never loses sight of the main romantic story. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is funny and bubbly, and it keeps getting better the more times you watch it.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin

Action-Comedy Amazon Prime Movies

Steve Carell, Catherine Keener, Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen, Romany Malco, Elizabeth Banks, Jane Lynch, Kat Dennings, and Leslie Mann are in it. The 40-Year-Old Virgin, the 2005 comedy that made Judd Apatow the king of rom-coms in the 2000s, made Steve Carell a star and helped start or improve the careers of the rest of the cast.

Carell plays the title character, a sweet but awkward guy who has never met the right woman at the right time. That is until he meets a new group of friends who support him (sometimes in very bad ways, like telling him to “tackle drunk bitches”) and Trish, a warm and very mature single mother who likes Andy despite all of his quirks.

This is one of the sweetest raunchy sex comedies, and Keener's performance keeps the movie grounded and full of heart in between the dirty jokes. Even though it has some old-fashioned ideas about sexuality and dating, the film's main theme and the emotional story still hold up surprisingly well almost 15 years later.

Free Fire

Armie Hammer, Sharlto Copley, Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy, Jack Reynor, Sam Riley, and Noah Taylor are among the actors who play roles. What if a whole movie was set in a Mexican Standoff? That's pretty much the idea behind Free Fire by Ben Wheatley, which is a violent, R-rated good time.

Set in the 1970s, the movie starts with a meeting between members of the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and an arms dealer. However, things go wrong, people get stabbed in the back, and guns are unloaded. Dark humour runs through the whole movie, which makes it a lot more fun than you might expect.

Actors like Armie Hammer and Brie Larson are more than up to the task of letting their comedic sides shine. If you want an action movie that's a little different, give this one a try. – Chitwood Adam

Late Night

Action-Comedy Amazon Prime Movies

Mindy Kaling, Emma Thompson, Hugh Dancy, John Lithgow, Denis O'Hare, Reid Scott, and Amy Ryan are among the actors who play roles. If you like stories about what goes on behind the scenes in Hollywood and rom-coms, you might like Late Night.

In the movie, Mindy Kaling plays a young woman who joins the all-male writing staff of a once-famous but now-falling-out-of-favour late-night talk show host, played by Emma Thompson.

As the host and her staff try to turn the show around and other problems come up, the young writer's idealism runs head-on into their cynicism. It's sweet, funny, and fun, but when it gets to the end, it gets surprisingly sad. Thompson does a great job playing a complicated and powerful woman, and Kaling is funny as the newcomer to comedy who looks up to her boss.

Knives Out

Action-Comedy Amazon Prime Movies

From Brick to Looper to The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson has made a name for himself as a director who gives well-known genres his unique spin, reimagining them with style while keeping the best parts of each one.

With his Oscar-nominated ensemble powerhouse Knives Out, Johnson adds this touch to the old-fashioned murder mystery, staging a twisty story of death and inheritance through the lens of one broken, wildly over-the-top family.

KnivesOut is funny and easy to watch, but it's also beautifully put together and has a killer cast that gives some of the slyest performances ever. Even just seeing Michael Shannon scream about cookies is worth your time. Luckily, that's just one of the many, many things that make Knives Out such a fun and unusual movie.

What If

Action-Comedy Amazon Prime Movies

Cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Zoe Kazan, Adam Driver, Mackenzie Davis, Megan Park

You'd be hard-pressed to find two nicer actors than Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan, and their 2013 rom-com What If is exactly what you'd expect from a feel-good love story. Radcliffe plays Wallace, a young man who has had a string of bad relationships and forms an instant friendship and undeniable chemistry with Chantry (Kazan), who lives with her longtime boyfriend.

The movie takes an interesting, but ultimately familiar, spin on the genre. Together, they try to figure out what it means to be best friends with someone who might also be your soul mate. And they do it with the help of Adam Driver and Mackenzie Davis, who play a passionate couple who can't stop touching each other.

They are a funny contrast to Wallace and Chantry, who don't touch each other. It's a classic feel-good rom-com with a cast that can't be beaten. It's funny, sweet, and witty.

Under the Silver Lake

Action-Comedy Amazon Prime Movies

Andrew Garfield, Riley Keough, Topher Grace, Riki Lindhome, and Callie Hernandez are all in the cast.

Under the Silver Lake is a big, sprawling thing, just like its setting in Southern California. It is full of strange places and winding roads that lead nowhere. David Robert Mitchell's next movie after It Follows is a mix of an old-school noir story and a satire of how obsessed people are with “solving” stories in the internet age.

Andrew Garfield plays a 30-something man named Sam who goes on a strange journey to find a neighbour he's only met once but hasn't seen in a while (Riley Keough). The journey takes him to some of L.A.'s weirdest side quests and underground societies, with Mitchell often showing off his horror skills by turning the city into a place full of killers and monsters.

It's all very weird, and a lot of it doesn't make sense, but that's part of what makes it beautiful. Under Silver Lake, you should just go with the current.

The Big Sick

Action-Comedy Amazon Prime Movies

Kumail Najiani, Zoe Kazan, Holly Hunter, Ray Romano, Anupam Kher, Zenobia Shroff, Bo Burnham, and Aidy Bryant are among the actors in the show. The real-life love story of Kumail Nanjiani and Emily Gordon is the basis for The Big Sick, which is the best romantic comedy in a long time.

The movie was written by Nanjiani and Gordon, and it was directed by Michael Showalter. Kumail Nanjiani plays himself, and Zoe Kazan plays Emily. The story is about two people who fall in love despite their different cultures, their families' expectations, and a mysterious illness that could kill them.

In the story, Nanjiani plays a stand-up comedian who falls in love with Kazan, a heckler at one of his shows. He tries to hide the relationship from his parents, who want him to have a strictly traditional arranged marriage to a Muslim woman.

Their relationship faces an even bigger challenge when she falls into an unexplained coma and he becomes close with her parents, who Ray Romano and Holly Hunter play so well that you can't help but fall in love with them. The Big Sick is a funny and charming look at love, commitment, and family, and it's a real crowd-pleaser to boot. It's full of heart and sincere goodwill.

Brittany Runs a Marathon

Action-Comedy Amazon Prime Movies

The actors are Jillian Bell, Michaela Watkins, Utkarsh Abudkar, Lil Rel Howery, and Micah Stock.

Brittany Runs a Marathon is the best kind of not the movie you think it is. In the movie, Jillian Bell plays an overweight woman who decides to get in shape by training for and running the New York marathon. She thinks this will change her life for the better. Changes do happen, but they're both good and bad.

Bell's character learns the hard way that her problems aren't about how she looks, but about who she is as a person. It's an unexpected, sweet, and often funny comedy with a touch of romance thrown in for good measure. But it's also really moving, and Bell gives a performance that will make him a star by balancing comedy and drama with ease.

Brittany Runs a Marathon is not only one of the best comedies of 2019 but also one of the best movies of the year overall.

Amazon Prime Instant Video is the only streaming service that is hard to use. If you miss how Netflix used to be when it first started streaming, when it had a big list of movies from different decades that you could watch right away, you might like Amazon Prime. The noise level is ridiculous.

There is so much to watch here that even with the official Prime Video apps, it can be hard to find what you want to watch. You'll find a lot of TV shows, including some that are made by Amazon, as well as thousands of other things you've probably never heard of before or since.

There are also a lot of funny movies, including some of the most popular and important comedies ever made. Today, we're going to tell you about the best comedies you can watch on Amazon Prime Video. Oh, and some pure comedies will rank higher than others that are better written, directed, or acted, but not as funny.

There is no universe in which UHF is a better movie than Charade, but one of them makes us laugh more, and it's not the one Stanley Donen made.
